How to Reach Sankri

From Dehradun

There are some shared cabs and buses that leave for Sankri every morning from Dehradun Railway Station.

Distance: Approx. 200 Km

Travel Timing: Approx. 7 hours

• By Bus

From Dehradun railway station, you can find three buses that leave at 5:30 am, 6:30 am and 8 am early in the morning. The 5:30 am and 6:30 am buses are private vehicles. These buses to Sankri are usually parked near Hotel Grand. It is at a 5-minute walk from the railway station.

The 8 am bus which is a government bus can be found right outside the railway station.

The ticket prices for both private and government buses approx. INR 400.

• Shared Taxi

The second-best option is to take a shared taxi from the Dehradun Railway Station. Because the cost of taxi is not high. These are usually parked near Hotel Grand which is also at a 5 minute walk from the railway station.

Please note that these taxis don’t go to Sankri directly. They stop at Purola which is 54 kms from Sankri. The travel takes around 4.5 hours and approx. costs INR 300.

From Purola, there are shared cabs that go all the way to Sankri. However, all shared cabs leave before noon. So, please ensure you reach Purola before noon if you plan on traveling by this route. The cab ride from Purola to Sankri aprrox. 150-200 rupees.

• Mussoorie to Sankri

Alternatively, you can also travel from Mussoorie to Sankri. There is an early bus available from the Mussoorie bus stop at 8 am. The ticket price for this ride approx. 400 Rupees.

From Rishikesh

Distance: Approx. 260 Km

• By Bus:

There are direct buses from Dehradun to Sankri. First, travel from Rishikesh to Dehradun (around 1 hour by bus or shared taxi), after that catch direct bus outside the Dehradun railway station for Sankri.

• Self-Drive:

If you’re up for an adventure, you can drive yourself from Rishikesh to Sankri. This option offers flexibility and allows you to enjoy the scenic beauty along the route at your own pace. Make sure your vehicle is well-prepared for hilly roads and that you’re comfortable driving on mountain terrain. Self-drive open the other option where you go from New Tehri, Barkot, Purola, and then finally reached Sankri.

From Delhi

To reach Sankri from Delhi, you can take a bus, train, or flight to Dehradun and then continue by bus or taxi.
